Dismounting the latch from its post

     

  1. If the magnetic catch is still down in the striker, reach in with a slender flat-head screwdriver and pry it free. Be careful when opening the gate as the no-longer-attached magnetic catch will fall free, probably landing in the snow.
  2. To remove the latch assembly from the mounting post, note its location (e.g., mark it with masking tape), unscrew the single screw below the magnetic catch and slide the entire assembly upward off the two guides. Note that the lower guide has multiple holes for screw alignment.
